Teacher Recruitment / Training

Partners in conveying the Yamaha Music Education System

Responsibility for realizing Yamaha's aspiration of “conveying the joy of music to all” lies with the teachers in Yamaha Music Education System. Teacher qualification examinations are conducted for applicants who majored in music at university or have equivalent musical knowledge and skills, and trainings are provided on a regular basis to those who have passed the examination. During new teacher training - which covers such areas as the instructional techniques and musical ability expected of a teacher - we provide in-depth advice on basic teaching methods and interaction with children, and the future teachers gain practical experience in teaching through practice lessons. New teachers can also access the website set up exclusively for new instructors to replay videos of the lessons they observed in training. We offer our teachers further training and classes for career enhancement, and we are offering a variety of courses nationwide open to all music teachers, not just our own. We also hold teachers' symposia to afford teachers across the country opportunities to present and discuss the results of research on in-class instruction. These symposia provide valuable information on education and instruction, and the findings presented are effectively reflected in curricula and textbook development. We also hold international teacher conferences attended by teaching staff at Yamaha Music Schools overseas as part of our endeavors to qualitatively improve our music education activities.
