Asia Pacific Junior Original Concert 2008 in Singapore

This event was inaugurated in 1991, and in 2008, Singapore was the host country. Taking place at the Singapore Conference Hall, the concert featured eleven students from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Taiwan and Thailand, besides those from the host country. The concert was given an enthusiastic welcome, as tickets sold out soon after the announcement. The gifted Yamaha Music School students ensured that the full-house audience, including foreign diplomats, fully enjoyed their original compositions, some of which used the traditional instrument, Liu-Qin, others of which had motifs in the gamelan mode. One of the best aspects of the Asia Pacific Junior Original Concert is the presentation of music with different traditional and ethnic characteristics.
Next year, Korea, where the Yamaha Music School was opened in 2004, will organize the event for the first time.
