Website that allows children to get acquainted with music
While having fun playing with music
Yamaha Music Foundation Music Research Laboratory has created a website titled “MusiCreature Kids” （http://www.yamaha-mf.or.jp/musicreature/kids/） that allows preschool children and elementary school children to acquire music knowledge and sense while having fun. Now, the English version of this website is available
（http://www.yamaha-mf.or.jp/musicreature/kids_e/）.
In addition to the conventional method, such as playing an instrument and listening to music, a Japanese version of this website, “MusiCreature Kids”, started in 2002 to provide opportunities for children to have fun with sounds and music in an easy and efficient way by utilizing computers and the Internet. You can try composing your own music, which can be done by simple operation. Or, you can express certain sounds around you with words or pictures. You can also experience virtual performance of an instrument as well as acquire knowledge on music theory and sounds. Like this, children can expose themselves to sounds and music in various ways.
We now have an English version of this website which is hoped to give opportunities for children to become familiar with English as well as music.
Since this website started in 2002, it has acquired good reputation from various areas, being linked from many websites for children and utilized in various education scenes. Through this English version, we would like children not only in Japan but worldwide to explore and find the attractiveness of various sounds and music.
