Number of Pieces Required
The number of Compulsory Pieces, and Free Selections required for each grade is shown below. Any candidates offering repertoire inconsistent with the requirements may be disqualified. The examiners will decide which pieces will be played at the examination.

One compulsory piece should be chosen in advance from each group (a, b and c). (Refer to the List of Compulsory Pieces for Classical Guitar Grade Examination).One of these three will be chosen by the examiner at the time of the examination. In the case of a suite, the candidate will be requested to play one or two movements.
The free choice pieces may be any three pieces on the same level of difficulty as the compulsory pieces (they may be chosen from the compulsory piece groups). One of these three will be chosen by the examiner at the time of the examination.
General Remarks on Repertoire
- It is highly recommended that candidates play all the pieces by memory.
In case the candidate needs to use the score, a request to turn pages will be denied. They will have to turn the pages by themselves.
