Courses for Toddlers

Teaching toddlers to enjoy music gives them a head start. At the age of two or three, children are developing very fast, physically, mentally, and emotionally. The Yamaha Music School emphasizes a warm and friendly atmosphere in which children, parents, and teachers can interact. In this supportive atmosphere, children learn the fun of music while making friends and developing basic social and communicative skills.
Junior Music Course (JMC) (for 4- and 5-year-olds)

This course is the foundation of the entire Yamaha Music School. Because this is the period when children's hearing sense develops most remarkably, we offer a two-year group lesson. Each group consists of about 10 students, with the primary objective being to enable them to acquire a sense of pitch as well as the ability to identify sounds. The children learn the three basic elements of music: rhythm, melody and harmony, through hearing, singing and playing. The course develops their basic capabilities to enjoy music in a free and easy manner.
Junior Extension & Advanced Courses (for 6-year-olds and up)

Children who have acquired the basics of music in the Junior Music Course can move on to the next step. By the time they reach school age, children have the hand coordination and cognitive capability to explore the musical experience more fully. Their personalities are developing fast, as are their individualized interests. Yamaha offers an extensive range of courses for this next step that meet children's developmental needs with comprehensive instruction in performance skills and musical expression.
