Exam Contents

 

Compulsory Piece

  1. The candidate will play 1 or 2 of the Compulsory pieces (indicated as Compulsory pieces in the textbook) as instructed by the examiner.
  2. The examiner will set an appropriate volume balance for accompaniment prior to beginning the exam.
  3. When everything has been set, the candidate will play to the accompaniment.

SET PIECE A & B

SET PIECE A

  1. The examiner will instruct the candidate to play 2 patterns from the score.
  2. The examiner will play the piece's tempo on a metronome for the candidate before proceeding with the exam (about 2 bars).
  3. When the candidate is ready, the examiner will instruct him/her to begin playing.

SET PIECE B

  1. The examiner will instruct the candidate to play 2 patterns from the score.
  2. The examiner will set an appropriate volume for accompaniment prior to beginning the exam.
  3. When the candidate is ready, the examiners will instruct him/her to begin playing.

Sight Playing

  1. The examiner will select one pattern from the Test Pieces.
  2. The candidate may look at the pattern for 30 seconds before playing (no movement allowed).
